The Children's Services Department houses an excellent collection of children's fiction and non-fiction literature which support the reading needs of children ranging in age from birth through grade eight. Other materials supporting the educational and recreational needs of children in the collection include periodicals and a wide array of audio books and audiovisual materials. Special interest collections include parent/teacher books, home schooling books, toddler and beginning reader books, and popular series collections. Also available is a reference collection geared at the younger library patrons.
The Children's Services Department offers a wide array of programming opportunities throughout the year, all aimed at promoting a love of reading and encouraging good reading skills.
The library offers a 24-hour, 7-day per week Storyline service which has become a very popular free service to area children and their parents. The telephone number for Storyline is (601) 482-4444.
The Children's Services Department does contain (3) computers with internet access. In order to use a computer, a child must have his or her own library card and a parent/legal guardian must sign a parental consent form.
